This site is maintained by the Connecticut Chapter of the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM). 

All of the midwives listed on this site are licensed by the state of Connecticut and are members of the Connecticut chapter of the ACNM.  Licensure is obtained after completion of one of the many approved Nurse-Midwifery educational programs that are located throughout the United States.  Connecticut has one graduate midwifery program  which is offered by Yale University.  Upon graduation, the midwife is then required to pass a national certification exam before becoming licensed.  The providers listed on our site meet all of the legal requirements to practice in the state of Connecticut.

The ACNM  is the oldest women's health care organization in the United States. ACNM provides research, accredits midwifery education programs, administers and promotes continuing education programs, establishes clinical practice standards, and creates liaisons with state and federal agencies and members of Congress.
